32 kV, 1000 Joule Surge Generator

The SG100032 Surge Generator produces adjustable output voltages from 0 to 32 kV and is typically used for locating faults in medium-voltage networks.

The capacitor provides a maximum stored energy of 1,000 J at selectable voltage levels of 8, 16, or 32 kV.

The surge generator converts the mains supply voltage into high voltage, which is rectified and used to charge the internal capacitors. These capacitors are then discharged into the faulty cable at adjustable intervals to generate the necessary surge for fault location.

For enhanced operator safety, the unit features an internal automatic dump contactor that discharges both the surge generator and the cable under test.
